Margaret Lois Allen
Lois passed away peacefully January 2, 2020 at the age of 96 after a brief illness.
She was born and lived most of her life in Moose Jaw, working as a Nurse/Head Nurse at Moose Jaw Union Hospital. She kept the doctors and staff in line, and was playfully referred to as “Crabby Allen”. A tough, gruff gal with a heart of gold, and a very dry sense of humour.
Predeceased by her parents Myrtle and Jim, and sister Betty, Lois is survived by her nieces Kathy, Alison, Pat and Libby, as well as several great and great great nieces and nephews. Lolo will be missed as we have so many fond memories of her.
We extend a heartfelt thanks to all those who cared for her in her later years, and especially her companions Audra and Ladybug.
In keeping with Lois’ wishes, a private service to be held at a later date.
Should you wish, a donation in Lois’ name may be made to a charity of your choice, or to The Moose Jaw Humane Society Box 1658 Station Main Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Surtees, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
Dear Kathy, Tinker, Pat, Libby and families,
Our sincere condolences on your loss. Lois was an incredible woman who was so proud of all of you. I was blessed to have had her in my life for many years. Remember our trip to Montreal, Tink? Great memories! I was able to get my Mom and her together for a visit a couple of times after Lois was moved to long term care and I am thankful for that. I will fondly recall visits to 260 Coteau St and how we enjoyed catching up while petting the resident cats. May your happy memories of time spent with Lois bring you peace and keep her forever in your hearts.
Condolences to Miss Allen’s family!! She ran a tight ship! Held her own with the doctors of the day and had a keen sense of humor!!! She was kind, compassionate and greatly admired, universally liked member of the health team! It was a privilege to know her!!
So sorry for your loss. Lois was a great lady, and I am privileged to have known her

Lois was a dear friend of my Grandmother Mabel Green and Muriel Mayer. The three of them took many trips overseas and were a constant in my childhood, as they all spent a great deal of time together. All three were nurses at the Moose Jaw Union hospital. My condolences to you.
