Mabel Acton
Mabel Acton, aged 95 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Monday, September 1st, 2014. A Time of Fellowship will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow at Rosedale Cemetery with Reverend Jim Tenford officiating. Mabel was born in Moose Jaw, SK. She received her education at Pioneer School in the Wesley Church District. Mabel married Walter Acton on November 16th, 1938 and resided most of her life in the Grayburn District, where they farmed and later retired to Moose Jaw. She was active in their rural community activities including organizing local showers, wedding anniversaries, fowl suppers and bonspiel canteens. Mabel was a lifetime member of the UCW, in which she held many Presbyterial positions, and was a regular attender of St. Andrew’s United Church. She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Florence Heron; husband, Walter; son, Raymond; daughter, Phyllis Weber; sisters, Lillian Dalrymple and Mildred Boyd; and son-in-law, Gus Weber. Mabel will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Murray (Pam) and Ken (Elaine); grandchildren: Susan (Greg) Fuhr, Laurel (Dave) Diakow; Jill (Jody) Tressel; Sarah (Matt) Kellow, Wilson (Jill) Acton and Matt (Trudie) Acton; and 7 great-grandchildren. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Mabel’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3.
