Gordon Acton
Gordon Acton, aged 89 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away on Saturday, December 20th, 2008. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 27th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Thomson will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Gordon was born at Lake Valley, Sk on January 14th, 1919. to Wilson and Emily Acton. They moved to the Grayburn district where he received his education and farmed. He married Elizabeth Russell of the Cardross district in 1942 and they raised three children at Grayburn until moving to Moose Jaw in 1967. Gordon owned and operated Acton Equipment from 1963 – 1988 until his semi-retirement. Gordon was so many things to so many people, to his family he was the best father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Although Gordon lived an active and busy life, he always made sure his family came first. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth; son Robert; four brothers Russell, Robert, Walter and Wilson; three sisters Charlotte Nimmo, Gertrude Virtue and May Heron. Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his son Ron; daughter Carol (Garry); four grandchildren Lisa (Dominic) Poissant, Scott Acton, Andrew (Nikki) Swenson and Eric Swenson (Chelsea Sykora); five great grandchildren; brother Irvin (Gladys) Acton; brother in law Raymond (Dot) Russell; sisters in law Jean Russell and Mabel Acton; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gordon’s name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Sask., 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, Sk., S7K 2H8 or the Salvation Army, 175 – 1st Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, Sk, S6H 0Y9, or Ina Grafton Gage Home, 200 Iroquois St. East, Moose Jaw, Sask.
