Fredrick William “Bill” Lake
Fredrick William “Bill” Lake passed away peacefully on April 29th, 2008 with family by his side, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Bill, born May 16th, 1934 was raised on the family farm near Crestwynd, Sask., and attended Piety Hill School. He began working in 1954 for South Saskatchewan Co-operative Stockyards in Moose Jaw which later became Sask. Wheat Pool – Livestock Division/Heartland Livestock. Bill saw many transfers: Swift Current, Prince Albert, Yorkton and Moosomin and retired to Moose Jaw in 1998 after 36 years in the cattle industry. Bill had many interests but his real love was gardening. He also enjoyed woodworking and in the last few years took up an interest in painting. Bill will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Gayle (Little), his daughter Debbie (Garry) Nickel and their children Amber and Andrew of Bedford, N.S. and Ashlee of Toronto, Ont.; daughter DonnaHoltslag and her children Jordan and Chantelle of Moose Jaw, Allison (Glen) of Drayton Valley, AB. and Ryan (Bree) of Prince Albert, Sk.; daughter Darcia (Richard) Hicks and their children Megan and Madison of Drayton Valley, AB; and son David (Denise) Lake and their daughter Shaye of Moose Jaw; his beloved puppy Daisy May; brother George (Marianne) Lake of Regina; brother-in-law Pete Schebel of Kelowna, B.C.; sisters-in-law Shirley (Joe) Jacob, Weyburn, Sk., Elizabeth Little, Pat (Mike) Barton, Moose Jaw, Denise Mercer, Cambridge, Ont., Carole (Jack) Sukeroff, Grimshaw, AB, Sharon (Bob) Lukacs, Vauxhall, AB., Rita (Wayne) Anderson, Lethbridge, AB., Diane Little, Vernon, B.C. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was predeceased by his parents Fred (1971) and Ada (1974), sister Mary Schebel (2000), parents-in-law Jim Little (1985) and Maud Little (1998), son-in-law Allan Holtslag (1991). A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1010 Main St. North, Moose Jaw, Sask. with Pastor Barry Gammie officiating. A Private Family burial will take place prior to the Memorial Service at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, Sask. S6H 2M2. would be greatly appreciated.
