Victor John “Oly” Olynek
It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Victor John “Oly” Olynek after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Moose Jaw September 7th, 1933 Oly always had an eye for travel from the time he tried to run away at 5 years, up until he joined the Air Force in 1955. After being sent overseas to England he met the love of his life Lois and they were married shortly after. Two children and 30 years of service later they returned home to Moose Jaw to retire and enjoy the company of friends and family. His two grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he was always beaming with a smile when told of their accomplishments. Predeceased by his mother Rose (Dutchak), father Alex Olynek, brother Stanley Olynek and brother-in-law Pat McKee, he leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 48 years Lois Ann (Newcomb), daughters Kim (Keith) Blair of Ottawa, Sharon (Brad) Warn and their children Ariana Marchigiano and Joshua Warn all of Moose Jaw. He also leaves his step-mother Ann Olynek; sisters Joan McKee, Priscilla Olynek, brothers Ray (Pat) Olynek, all of Saskatoon and Dennis Olynek of Calgary; and of course Aunts Olga Toderash and Elsie Dutchak; sisters in law Dorothy Olynek and Marilyn Olynek; cousins, friends and neighbours. At Dad’s request there will be no funeral or graveside service. However a time of Fellowship will be held at a later date. After cremation he wants to continue the traveling over the Atlantic, he is still looking for that BIG ONE! Good Luck, Dad! Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and support at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross Street West, Moose Jaw, Sask.
