Paul M Mackey. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Paul Mackey of Moose Jaw on Friday June 5, 2009 at the age of 90 years. He was born in Neptune, Sask. on May 20th 1919. He farmed with his father until joining the 2nd Btn. South Sask. Regiment with which he served from Feb. 1941 to October 1942. He transferred to the R.C.A.F. and was discharged in October 1945. He enrolled in a machinist’s course and began employment with P.F.R.A. in April 1946 working his way up to Manager. He retired in Dec. 1981. He was predeceased by his mother in 1961, father in 1962, his in-laws in 1968 and 1970, 3 sisters in-law, 6 brothers in-law. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth to whom he was married for 62 yrs, 3 sons Randy (Kathy) of Saskatoon, Kevin (Carrie) of St. Albert, Alberta, Brent (Darlene) of Moose Jaw, 4 Grandchildren Amanda (Jason) Jordan (Lindsay) of Saskatoon, Shelby and Braydon of Moose Jaw, 3 great grandchildren, Dylan, Aidan, and Kendall of Saskatoon, one sister, Laura Smith of Calgary, Alberta and many nieces and nephews. Paul was a member of R.C.Legion for 63 years serving as President for 4 years and on numerous, committees. He received the Meritorious Service medal for his work. He was a past President of 601 Wing, and past member of the Army and Navy Vets. He had a great love of music and singing and played guitar for the 59’ers Old Time Band for 10 years. In the summer his pride and joy was his garden of flowers and the grass trimmed on which he spent many hours enjoying them all. Cremation and burial has taken place at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Service of Remembrance will be held at Moose Jaw Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., with Legion Rites being conducted by Chuck MacMillan of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 59.
