Gladys Pearl (nee: Wirges) Bassendowski

Gladys Pearl (nee: Wirges) Bassendowski, beloved wife, mother, and grannie passed away peacefully on June 11th after a short battle with cancer.  Gladys was born May 18th, 1939 in Courval, SK.  She was a wonderful homemaker for many years.  She took great pride in her home.  We all enjoyed her cooking and baking.  She was also a great seamstress.  Gladys enjoyed her grandchildren and their activities and loved her grand-dog Foxy.  For over 30 years she enjoyed her winter vacation in Yuma, Arizona where she met numerous friends.  Gladys is survived by her husband of 52 years Rudy of Moose Jaw; children: Steven (Angie) of Consul, SK.; Ricky of Saskatoon, SK.; and Sharon (Gene) Cochrane of Moose Jaw, SK.; grandchildren: Nancy (Jon) Sookocheff of Cornwall, ON., Crystal (Layne) Ardell of Saskatoon, SK., Heidi Bassendowski of Prince Albert, SK., Kyle Cochrane and Brad Cochrane (Megan Simon) of Moose Jaw, SK.; brothers: Gerald Wirges of Moose Jaw, SK., Ken (Betty) Wirges of Coderre, SK., and sister Fay (Owen) Marchbank of Shamrock, SK.; sisters-in-law: Anne Resvick and Selma Brooks of Calgary, AB., and Marlene Kennedy of Peace River, AB. and many nieces and nephews.  Gladys was predeceased by her parents Emil and Pearl Wirges; sister-in-law Claire Wirges; brothers-in-law Fred Brooks, Ralph Kennedy and William Resvick; nephew Troy Marchbank and niece Kendra Wirges.  The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in Central Lutheran Church (27 Hochelaga St. West) with Pastor Doug Shepherd officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.  A time of visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, June 15th, 2010 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Donations in memory of Gladys may be made to the Palliative Care Program Five Hills Health Region Access Centre, 1000 Albert St., Moose Jaw, SK. S6H 2Y2.
