Philip Ackerman
Philip Ackerman, aged 86 years of Moose Jaw, SK and formerly of Buffalo Pound Lake, passed away Tuesday, December 13th, 2011. Phil married Dorothy Traill on September 30th, 1948. He was employed at Robin Hood Mills for 6 years, Merv. Hulse Garage for 18 years, Scott Ford for 17 years and Centennial Tire until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #7 of Moose Jaw. Phil was a very mechanically inclined person who helped many people. He was very fond of fishing in his retirement years. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Moose Jaw; sons, Ken (Josie) Ackerman of Surrey, BC and Ron (Linda) Ackerman of Buffalo Pound Lake; grandchildren: Shari (Shaun) Alford of Surrey, BC, Jaime Ackerman of Moose Jaw and Katy Ackerman of Whistler, BC; sisters, Mary (Bill) Waud of Moose Jaw and Barb Brotzell of Medicine Hat, AB. He was predeceased by his brother, Karl Ackerman (1982) and sisters, Rose Hastie (1979) and Monica Stephen (1993). The Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 16th, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Pastor John McCubbing officiating. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery following the service. Memorial donations in Phil’s name may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital Travel Fund, c/o Wa Wa Shrine Centre, 2065 Hamilton St., Regina, SK S4P 2E1.
