A Prayer Service, conducted by Father Slawomer Lomaszkiewicz, will be held on Thursday, August 4th, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane, Moose Jaw, SK. Vic was born in Spring Valley on April 27th, 1932. He was the second youngest of 5 children born to Mary & Kornel Boszak. In 1936 the family moved to Moose Jaw. Vic attended Westmount Public School and achieved Grade 10 at A.E. Peacock High School. At the age of 17 he began his career at Canadian Pacific Railway as a Fireman, retiring after 38 years in 1988 as an Engineer. On June 1st, 1957 he married the love of his life, Mary Kapeluck, and while in Moose Jaw raised two children, Cathy and Barry. His position at CPR took him to Wilkie, Saskatchewan for a three year period, but moved back to Moose Jaw in 1972 where they have remained happily married for over 54 years. After retiring at the age of 55, Dad spent more time pursuing his passion of fishing at many of the Saskatchewan lakes, or salmon fishing at the BC Coast. Dad especially enjoyed the many times spent fishing with his grandchildren at Buffalo Pound Lake and the many family fish fries that resulted. Most winters included vacations to various warm weather destinations, and a special trip to Ukraine to visit relatives and see the area where his parents were born and raised. Dad loved life and created many friendships through his lifetime. He enjoyed dancing, fastball, curling and playing cards. He has been an active longtime member of the St. Vladimirs Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Prosvita Ukrainian Club. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Kornel (1946) and Mary (1973); step-father, Peter Macura (1987); two brothers, Bill (1991) and Carl (2000); sister-in-law, Olga Boszak; brothers-in-law, George Bararuk, Julius Radwanski, Alex Alexander, Dan Nycholat and Mike Kapeluck; and his in-laws, John & Anelia Kapeluck. Vic is survived by his wife, Mary; two children, Cathy Wahlund and her children David Wahlund, Janelle Sentes (Drew) and great-grandson David, all of Prince George, B.C., Barry and Bonda Boszak and their children Daniel, Tyler, and Kelsie, all of Saskatoon; sisters, Stephanie Alexander and Lil Bararuk; brothers/sisters-in-law, Myrtle, Steve (Martha), John (Cathy), Peter (Vi), Helen (Ed), Andy (Trudy) and Dewayne(Marilyn); and many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the people who visited with Dad and a special thank you to all Care Givers at Providence Place who made his stay very comfortable. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Providence Place Healing Gardens Fund, 100 – 2nd Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1B8.
