Genevieve (Jenny) Theresa Cannon
Genevieve (Jenny) Theresa Cannon of Moose Jaw, formerly of Marquis, passed away on October 25th, 2011 after a courageous battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She was 81. Jenny is predeceased by her loving husband, Art; her parents John and Elizabeth Burkart; her sisters Amelia (Millie), Barbara, Rose Marie and Elizabeth (Beth); and her brother Peter. She is survived by daughter Rita of Ladysmith, British Columbia; son Robert (Laureen) and family Greg and Michael (Tiffany & great-grandson Joshua) of Saskatoon and Angela of Prince Albert; daughter Lois (Don) Ross and family James (Karen Neskar) of Regina and Christa (Jarret Boon) of Ottawa, Anne (Rob) Hayes and family Ryan (Lindsay), Kristina and Alana of Sherwood Park, Alberta; son Gordon of Marquis; and son John (Raeleen) and family Regan and Lindsay of Prince Albert. Jenny will also be remembered by her sisters Philipine (Phil) of Sherwood Park, Alberta and Christine of Coquitlam, British Columbia; brothers Robert of Edmonton and John (Bev) of Okanagan Falls, British Columbia; and brother-in-law Herman Cornelson of Swift Current. Jenny will be also be remembered by her nieces and nephews and Art’s sister, brother, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was born November 6th, 1929 in Liberty. Jenny attended Aberfelly School and worked at the Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw. On October 11th, 1948 Jenny married Arthur Cannon. Jenny and Art operated a dairy and grain farm. Jenny was involved in many organizations. As a Marquis’ community member she was an active participant in the Catholic Women’s League, Parish Council, Community Club and Home and School. Jenny and others were the lead in developing the Marquis History Book. In addition, she was quite involved as a 4-H assistant and Project Leader, Regional Library representative and the Moose Jaw Exhibition Lifestyles Committee for the Hometown Fair. Jenny loved sports whether as a participant or as a spectator, be it curling, horseshoes, softball or baseball, hockey or football. She was an accomplished handicraft person, loved cards, was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed gardening. Jenny enjoyed visiting with her children and grandchildren and travelling. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Prayer Services at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3rd, 2011 at Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane, Moose Jaw, SK. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4th, 2011 at Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St., Moose Jaw, SK. Flowers gratefully declined.
