HANSEN, DORA (neé  Edwards)

With sadness we announce the passing of our mom.  Born July 20th, 1941 in Rockglen, Saskatchewan, Dora departed August 3rd, 2011 in her home with her family by her side, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.  Dora was predeceased by her infant son, Robert Allan Hansen and her parents, Clifford Edwards and Fern New (Edwards).  She is survived by her children, Anna (Doug) Neufeld, Murray (Rita) Hansen, Loralee Murrell, Lorne Hansen, Maureen(Greg) Hansen and Otto Hansen.  She is also survived by her siblings, Opal (Wally) Schick, Lynda (Mike) Endicott and Clifton “Buster” (Phyllis) Edwards; and special friend, Lynn Wilson.  Dora also leaves behind numerous family and friends who were the recipients of many acts of kindness over the years.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.  Dora was born and raised in Rockglen, Saskatchewan and her family also resided in High River and Hannah, Alberta for several years.  The family eventually returned to Rockglen.  This is where Dora married Walter Hansen.  They Farmed and had seven children together.  Dora and Walter later separated and Dora and her children relocated to Moose Jaw, SK.  Dora operated a group home for mentally challenged individuals for over 30 years.  Dora had a love for horses and nature, which she proudly displayed with her beautiful gardens and paintings throughout the years.  She also had a soft spot in her heart for stray dogs, cats and mainly many of her children’s friends who resided with her throughout the years.  She took them all in with a loving heart and open arms.  She had a heart of gold and will be sadly missed but forever cherished by the many people whose lives she touched.  Rest in peace mom, we love you.  A Service to Celebrate Dora’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 9th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Pastor Shawn Chapman will officiate and interment will take place in Rockglen, SK at a later date.  Donations in Dora’s name may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK S4T 7T1.
