JOHNSON, Lorraine Isobel (nee Patterson)
On Friday, January 7th, 2011 Lorraine passed away peacefully in Moose Jaw at the age of 90 years. She was born April 14th, 1920 in Moose Jaw and spent her early years in the Mossbank area, completing High School and Secretarial training in Moose Jaw. She met Herbert Johnson while working in Melaval and they married in 1942. They lived in Moncton, Weyburn and Saskatoon for the first 3 years until Herb received his discharge from the Air Force. In 1945 they returned to Melaval where they farmed and raised their boys. Lorraine embraced life on the farm and was an avid gardener. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking and baking. She was involved with community sports including baseball, curling and bowling. Lorraine was an active member in the Melaval Community Club, Bridge Club, United Church as well as a Past Matron of Eastern Star, enjoying many friendships and travels with them. Lorraine and Herb retired to Moose Jaw in 1986. She loved her new home and the abundance of water available for gardening. Lorraine LOVED to go “malling” and we will fondly remember her for that. Many enjoyable winters and good times were spent in sunny Arizona and Victoria over the years. Lorraine was passionate about keeping in touch with her family and truly enjoyed socializing with everyone. Memories of her life will be deeply remembered and treasured. Lorraine will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Herbert; sons, Gary (Charlotte) of Penticton, BC. and Bill (Elaine) of Regina, SK.; grandchildren, Jeff (Tania) and Andrew (Angela) of Victoria, BC., Jaime of Regina, SK., Christy of Calgary, AB. and Steven (Stacey) of Edmonton, AB.; and great-grandchildren, Lassah, Jonah and Bailey of Victoria, BC. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 23rd, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate.
