Mary Oberding
Mary Oberding (nee Kirkham) of Regina, formerly of Courval, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, December 26th, 2011 at the age of 85. Mary was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, James; sons, Philip and Randy; as well as numerous family members here and in England. Mary is survived by her sons, Keith and Tony (Sharon); her grandchildren: Therese (Jamie), David (Erin), Melissa and Cheri; great-grandchildren: Erin, Cale, Logan and Ava; brothers, Richard (Doreen) and Bert (Doris); sister, Margaret; sisters-in-law: Marie, Shirley (Norbert) and Lilian; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mary enjoyed socializing with the ladies of the Happy Hour Social Club in Courval for many years. As Courval postmistress for 22 years, Mary kept up on all the local gossip and loved her visits with those who came to pick up their mail and sometimes would have a cup of coffee as well. After she and James moved to Regina in 2002, Mary made many friends in their new home in the Hamilton Plaza. Most evenings were spent in the Common Room playing cards, bingo and shuffleboard. Her dry English wit and sense of humour entertained her friends, and she will be missed. Special thanks to the Renal Unit nurses and staff at the Regina General Hospital, who took such good care of her the past 9 ½ years. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 31st, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 1545C McAra St., Regina, SK S4N 6H4.
