Irene “Gladys” Wright
Wright- Irene “Gladys” Wright, aged 95 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away on Friday, July 29th, 2011. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 6th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Denise Doerksen will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 5th, 2011 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Born in Winnipeg, Man. Sept. 16th, 1915, she worked for the De Laval Co. for 12 years, married Christopher (George) Wright in 1943 and on his return from overseas duty, they moved to Moose Jaw, Sk. in 1946. Glad worked for I.A.C./Niagara, now Hong Kong Bank of Canada, for 12 years, retiring in 1973. She was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Aux. Br #59 and the Legion Ladies Dart Club. Gladys was “Brown Owl” for numerous years at Ross School with the Brownies/Guides. She and George were avid bowlers and also enjoyed their “curl-a-pool” at the Armories with their wonderful friends. Gladys was predeceased by her parents Frank and Jonina Weakley; husband and best friend of 64 years, George; sister Kathleen; brother Albert and granddaughter Barbara Clooten. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Joan (Roy),son Chris (Gina), 6 grandchildren Heather (Patrick), Ashley (Andrew), Nicole (Dave), Shane (Lauralee), Trevor (Linnea), Calvin Clooten; 6 great grandchildren Stephanie, Matthew, Hannah, Allanah, Austin, James; sisters Joyce Lewis and Mae Jones; and numerous other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gladys’ name to the Legion Poppy fund, c/o The Royal Canadian Legion, 268 High St. W., Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, S6H 1S8.
