Richard Haley Box
Richard Haley Box passed away at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK on Saturday, June 16th, 2012 at the age of 81 years. He was born May 4th, 1931 at Courval, SK to parents, Fred and Gladys Box. Richard, or Dick as many people called him, was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Gladys Box; and his brothers, Harold and Charlie Box. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife and best friend of 29 ½ years, Debbie; daughter, Marilyn Shook; grandsons, Anthony and Brendon; brother, James Box; sisters-in-law: Bonnie Box and family, and Shirley Box and family; brother-in-law, Mervin (Pat) Wirges and family; and sister-in-law, Wanda (Ralph) Henderson and family. Richard was a farmer all his life in the Courval District, moving to Moose Jaw when he married Debbie in the fall of 1982. He was a councillor for the RM of Rodgers (1978-1982) and Reeve (1983-1989) and was looking forward to going to their 100th year celebration on June 30th of this year. He loved baseball, hockey, curling and bowling and excelled in these sports when he was a younger man. He also loved playing cards. Richard and Debbie sold their farm just this spring, but Richard was looking forward to going out this fall to help Gilbert if he was able to do so. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 21st, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and interment will follow in Moose Jaw Crematorium and Columbarium. A Time of Visitation for Family and Friends will take place on Tuesday, June 19th, 2012 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Richard’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
