Michael (Mike) Daniels
With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Michael (Mike) Daniels, aged 91 years, on Monday, November 5th, 2012. Mike was born on the family farm near Wheatstone, SK on June 16th, 1921. He married Vera Anderson in 1950 and had a daughter, Glennys who gifted them with two wonderful granddaughters Amanda and Samantha. Throughout his years, he went gold mining in Timmins, Ontario, worked at Swift’s Meat Packing Plant and with Del Bradshaw purchased a Tom Boy store in Calgary. After his short time in Calgary, he came back to Moose Jaw due to family commitments. Upon his return, he had a successful 35 year career managing the Moose Jaw Co-op Meat Department. Upon retiring, he started his second career as a realtor with Ed Laporte (Eddy’s Real Estate) and then with his nephew Leonard (Key West Real Estate). He had a lifetime devotion to the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church where he served the congregation as Secretary, Treasurer and President over the years. He was an extraordinary husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed dances, parties, family gatherings, gardening, grocery shopping, broomball, curling, the lake, fishing, hockey games, traveling and especially the time spent with his grandchildren and special little ones. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Costea and Martha Daniels; brothers: Fred, Peter and Wesley Daniel, sisters, Annie Lukashenko and Christina Ambrose; brothers-in-law: Andrew Lukashenko, Michael Ambrose, Ed Reiman and Vernon Anderson; sister-in-law, Glenda Dean; and father and mother-in-law, Otto and Mabel Anderson.
