Steve Deschytza
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Steve Deschytza. Steve passed peacefullyon Monday, November 26th, 2012 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital with his family by his side. Steve was born February 26th, 1934 to a family of 11 children – 8 boys and 3 girls – in Venlaw, Manitoba. He worked at various jobs until he found his calling as a heavy duty mechanic. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. “If you could take it apart, you could put it back together and fix it.” He was predeceased by his parents, Klym and Nellie Deczycia; brothers: Matt, Bill and Alec; brother-in-law, Mike; nephews: Ken, Darren and Dannie; father-in-law, John Bida and sister-in-law, Verna Dean. Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Dianne; sons, Eugene (Colleen) of Grandora and Brian (Candace) of Moose Jaw; grandson, Cale (his pride and joy); sisters: Helen, Tillie (Ivan) and Nettie (Tom); brothers: Mike (Betty), Walter (Agnes), Peter and Harry; as well as several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 1st, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 621 5th Avenue SW, Moose Jaw, SK. Father Yurij Lazurko will be the presiding celebrant and interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, November 30th, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. No flowers please. Donations in Steve’s memory may be made to the church for prayers or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
