Don Gude
January 31st, 1930 – August 25th, 2012
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Don, a great father, brother, uncle and one of the best friends you will ever meet. Don was predeceased by his parents, Myrtle and Sidney Gude. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Alana Keshane; sister, June (Raymond) MacDonald and their children Alena and Iain MacDonald; brother, Jack; and many friends too numerous to mention. Don was born in Swift Current then moved to Moose Jaw. He started his working career on the railroad. He travelled extensively in Latin America and worked in the silver mines in Ecuador among other places. He moved back to Saskatchewan and became an iron worker. He was a proud member of the Iron Workers Local 771. He was also a proud member of the New Democratic Party, the Council of Canadians and the SK Health Coalition. He was a member of the Breakfast Club at the Moose Jaw Co-op and the Saturday morning A&W group. One of Don’s greatest passions was volunteering at Providence Place. After the passing of Don’s mother Myrtle, Don started volunteering there. As Don said many times, he was glad to volunteer but also the people and staff treated him like family which he was so grateful for. Thank you to everyone at Providence Place for making him a part of your world. Don was a man of principle and loved a lively debate. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff of the ICU at Moose Jaw Union Hospital for the compassionate care given to Don. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane, Moose Jaw, SK with Reverend Doug Shepherd officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the New Democratic Party, Box 1843 Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7N6 or Providence Place Foundation Inc., 100 – 2nd Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1B8. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. James Murdock, Funeral Director. 693-4550
