Raymond Thomas Thul

Raymond Thomas Thul passed away Tuesday, April 10th, 2012 at the age of 88 years in Moose Jaw Union Hospital.  Ray was born in Tuxford, Saskatchewan May 26th, 1923 and grew up, married and raised his family in Marquis SK.  Ray was predeceased by his parents, Isadore (Mike) and Catherine (Fellhauer) Thul; his sister and brother-in-law, Ag (Thul) and Gill Spasoff; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Maxine (Smart) Thul; brother-in-law, Earl McCartney; nephew, Drew Thul and niece, Cathy Spasoff.  Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Beatrice (Ludvikson) Thul; as well as his children, Richard and Kay (Lewis) Thul and Mike Thul; his grandchildren, Christopher and Lindsay (Gray) Thul and Haddow Thul; and great-granddaughter, Kylee Rae Thul.  He is also survived and will be dearly missed by sister, Trudy (Thul) McCartney; and brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Shirley (Nutzhorn) Thul; as well as many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends.  Raymond farmed in the Marquis area as a young boy eventually taking over the family homestead and continued until retirement.  He also worked the winters at the Government Grain Elevators.  Raymond enjoyed many sports and actively participated over many years in baseball and curling.  Ray also enjoyed participating as a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elk’s Lodge.  Ray and Bea have resided in Moose Jaw after moving in from Marquis in 1999.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 13th, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. N.W.  Father Rick Krofchek will be the presiding celebrant and interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Marquis, SK at a later date.  A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, April 12th, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Donations in memory of Ray may be made to Kids Sport Saskatchewan, 1870 Lorne Street, Regina, SK S4P 2L7 kidssport@saskport.sk.ca.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  James Murdock, Funeral Director. 693-4550.
