Ellen Berger

Ellen Berger, aged 72 years of Central Butte, SK, passed away on Friday, July 5th, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 10th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Central Butte, SK.  Father Rick Krofchek will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place at Central Butte Cemetery.  Ellen was born August 17th, 1940 at Grandma Murdoch’s house by Hitchcock Bay.  She attended Hanford School up until Grade 6 and then finished her schooling at Lucky Lake, SK.  She then attended the University of Saskatchewan and became a CNA.  In the fall of 1960, Ellen moved to Central Butte and began working at the Union Hospital.  She married Ken on November 28th, 1964.  Ellen enjoyed gardening, crafts and handiwork.  Throughout the years, she was dedicated to many community organizations and was always keenly interested in her grandchildren’s activities.  She was predeceased by her parents, William and Hazel Murdoch; brother, Gerald; brother-in-law, Bill Nowosad; in-laws, George and Evelyn Berger; and nephews, Russell Bowey and Travis Nowosad.  Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, Ken; sons, Grant (Shannon) and Gordon; grandchildren: Sarah, Hannah, Andrew and Jennah; sister, Laura (Bill) Bowey of Outlook, SK; brother, Mervin (Darlene) Murdoch of Birsay, SK; sister, Donna Nowosad of Vermilion, AB; brother, Ross Murdoch of Saskatoon, SK; sisters-in-law, Dianne Murdoch of Souris, MB and Randy Murdoch of Macrorie, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Ellen’s name may be made to the Central Butte and District Health Care Foundation, Box 582, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  James Murdock, Funeral Director. 306-693-4550.
