RONALD WILLIAM BOON, Chief Warrant Officer, retired
Ronald William Boon aged 69 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away at home on Monday, November 11th, 2013 after a long battle with colorectal cancer. Born in Vancouver, Ron’s 35 years in the Canadian Military took him and his family to Gagetown, Borden, Germany, Chilliwack, Petawawa, Comox, Cold Lake, Halifax and finally Moose Jaw in 1991. After retiring from the military in 1996, Ron was heavily involved in volunteer work around town. He was a board member for Citizens All, a member of Moose Jaw Search and Rescue, and the Royal Canadian Legion. He was also active in the Saskatchewan and Moose Jaw Centennial committees, and the committee to get Saskatchewan a veteran license plate. He was also a proud Roughriders fan. Ron is survived by Kathy, his wife of 41 years; his son, Rob (Karen) of Vancouver; daughter, Rhonda of Edmonton; grandson, Tyler of Edmonton and mother in law, Fran O’Connor of Moose Jaw. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Boon of Surrey; and brothers: Mike, Bill, Douglas and their families. He was predeceased by his father, Ron Boon Sr.; his brother, Jim; and his father-in-law, George O’Connor. At Ron’s request there will be no Funeral or Memorial Service held. He asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to SCRAPS (Stray Cat Rescue and Protection Inc), 1254 Athabasca St. W., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 6C6.
