Leona (Lee) Audrey Findlay
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Leona (Lee) Audrey Findlay on Monday, February 25th, 2013 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital at the age of 86 years. Her battle is over and she has left us safe in the knowledge that the love and wisdom we gained by being lucky enough to have had her in our life for so long will keep us all safe and allow us to face a new day without her. Lee is survived by her loving family: husband, Jack; children: Gord (Wendy) Findlay, Don (Holly) Findlay, Sheree (Jim) Parker, Corey (Jay) Eddie and Suzie (Randy) Knight; grandchildren: James (Amanda) Findlay, Tammy (Chris) Arden, Jennifer (Phil), Lindsay and Colleen Parker, Kevin (Samantha) Eddie, Kristen Eddie, Brant and Jason Knight; great-grandchildren: Brandon, Logan, Landon and Hayden Findlay, Katy and Alaina Arden; sister, Shirley Gunhold and many other nieces, nephews and family members. She was predeceased by granddaughter, Vanessa Eddie and by her siblings and their spouses: Jen (Fred) Kirkpatrick, Lyle (Verna) Dunlop, Phil (Andy) Murray, Gay Dunlop, Norma (Howard) Wilson and Carl Gunhold. Lee was born at home in Mazenod, SK on August 30th, 1926 to parents George and Eva (Moore) Dunlop. The second youngest child, she attended school in North Point and eventually graduated from Central Collegiate in Moose Jaw. She was a member of the Navy from 1943 -1945. Eventually she went to Normal School in Saskatoon and after a short teaching career worked at the Bank of Montreal. Dad and Mom were married on July 21st, 1951 and raised a family of five in the big, green house on Connaught Avenue. In 1995, Mom and Dad began a series of moves that eventually saw them at the Mulberry Estates. Mom faced a battle with many medical problems and entered the hospital for the last time on February 1st, 2013. Her battle is over now and she is at peace. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 28th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Legion Rites will be conducted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #59. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Lee’s name may be to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Sask., 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
