Fay Ghiglione
April 2nd, 1929 – March 28th, 2013
With heavy hearts the family of Fay, aged 83, say farewell to the woman who was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and close friend. She passed away after a 10 day battle with leukemia and multiple complications. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 1st, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Father Rick Krofcheck will officiate and a private family interment will take place at Moose Jaw Crematorium and Columbarium.
Parents George and Viktorine Willer of Germany settled in the Limerick area in 1922. Born Francisca Amelia, she was the third of four sisters. Growing up on the farm she was called ‘Fanny’. She was a carrot topped red headed tom-boy who helped her father with the farm, horses and yard. She worked at the Darling Hat Shop and Woolworth’s in Moose Jaw. She met Ray Ghiglione when he visited his aunt. Coincidently, it was the same boarding house where Fay and her sister Gertrude and Marg Holman (Rosso) were staying. Soon after Fay and Marg roomed together Athabasca West before she was married. Fay and Ray were married in 1951 and lived in Saskatoon for a few years before returning and settling in Moose Jaw in 1953. They purchased their first house on Montgomery Street in 1956 where they raised their two boys – Kevin born in October 1957 and Brent born in 1961. Fay returned to sales work In 1974, where she worked for a short period at Eatons and later for many years at Joyner’s Ladies Wear. Her volunteer work included Providence Place and Cardiacaction. Fay will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, Ray; son, Kevin (Monica) and their children Gabriel, Allegra and Lukas; son, Brent (Nadine) and their children Dominic and Kiera; sisters: Josephine Kestel, Gertrude Willer (Sister Anna Marie) and Marianne Holzer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honour Fay’s memory may donate to Cardiaction in her name where she was an active volunteer for over 10 years. Please make donations in Fay’s name to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation for the Cardiaction Exercise Program, Patient Education Centre, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3.
