Effie Hoyes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother, Effie Hoyes, on Wednesday, November 13th, 2013 at the age of 84 years.  Mom was born August 1st, 1929 to Waysil and Annie Filipchuk in Hampton, SK.  She enjoyed her gardening and award winning flowers.  She loved to cook and have family gatherings.  In her later years, she called Edgar Hall at Providence Place her home until her passing.  Predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Art in 2006; she was also predeceased by brothers, John and Fred; and sisters: Nellie Chepil, Mary Moisiuk, Eva Manchuk and Lena Sydiaha.  Effie is survived by her children, Larry (Heather) Hoyes and Brenda Hoyes (Rod Klassen); and grandchildren: Jennifer, Justin, Brock and Murray.  She is also survived by sister, Elsie Prokop; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Heinitz and Ruth Hoyes; and several nieces and nephews.  A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, November 18th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Rosedale Cemetery with Pastor Bill Thomson officiating.  Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery gates by 10:50 a.m.  The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staff of Edgar Hall at Providence Place and the Union Hospital for their compassionate care.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Effie’s name may be made to the CNIB, 2550 Broad St., Regina, SK S4P 3Z4 or The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Jeff Ofstie, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
