Joseph Clarence Klein (Joe)
Joseph Clarence Klein (Joe), aged 73 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, May 16th, 2013. Joe was born on August 6th, 1939 in Lafleche, SK. He was predeceased by his parents, Joe Klein and Edna Federink and five siblings: Lawrence, Eleanore, Melvin, Elaine and Robert. Joe is lovingly remembered by his wife, Bev; son, Galen; daughter, Shaunna (Kevin) Moore; step-children, Denise and Steven Mutlow; grandchildren: Teri, Ronan, Alaina, Lyndon, Meagan and Tyler; brothers, Dave (Ellen) Klein and Boyd (Heather) Federink; sister, Cheryl (Don) MacFarlane; sister-in-law, Pat Klein; special friends: Simone Klein, Royce and Kathy; aunt, Betty Klein; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends across Canada and England. Joe joined the RCAF in December of 1957 as an IE Tech, retiring in April of 1993 after 35 years of service as a MWO, stationed in Cold Lake, AB, 4 Wing Germany, Chatham, NB, Moose Jaw, SK, Trenton, ON and Winnipeg, MB. He travelled the world extensively with his job, sharing many stories upon his return. Joe was an exceptional athlete, excelling at any sport he participated in. In 1971, his Chatham, NB Fastball team won the Canadian Armed Forces Championship in Greenwood, NS. Joe curled competitively for many years and realized a life-long dream when he represented NB at the 1973 Brier in Edmonton, AB. At the age of 50, Joe embraced golf with a passion. He even travelled to Austin, Texas to the Golfsmith Academy to become a golf club maker. He was proud to represent the Moose Jaw Legion annually at Provincial Tournaments. Joe’s love of sports was passed onto his children and grandchildren, as fans and participants. He loved spending time with them, listening to all their achievements. Family and friends enjoyed Joe’s BBQ’s and “sessions”. On February 23rd, 2013 Joe married his long-time partner Bev Mutlow at their home. He cherished every visit and phone call, and his last round of golf, especially these past few months as he courageously battled cancer. A Memorial Tea will be held on Friday, May 24th, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. In honour of Joe, please feel free to wear Lynbrook Golf Club, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Edmonton Oilers or Toronto Blue Jays attire.
