Simone Louise Klein (nee Guillemin)
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Simone Louise Klein, after a brief illness following lung surgery. With her family by her side, Simone passed away on Saturday, August 10th, 2013 at the age of 74. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Marie Louise Guillemin; brother, Lionel Guillemin; nephews, Dale Taylor and Harold Guillemin; brothers-in-law, Robert Taylor and Jack Loran; and life-long friend, Joe Klein. Simone is lovingly remembered by her son, Galen Klein; daughter, Shaunna (Kevin) Moore; her precious grandchildren: Teri, Ronan and Alaina Klein, Lyndon and Meagan Moore; sisters, Rolande Taylor and Lorraine Loran; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Simone was born March 3rd, 1939 in St. Claude, MB, moving to Forget, SK in 1949 and graduating from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1957. Mom worked in Kitimat, BC before joining the RCAF on September 10th, 1958, doing her basic training in St. John’s, QC before being posted to Cold Lake, AB as a Radar Tech. In those days, women were not allowed to be enlisted in the RCAF and be a mother, so following Galen’s birth, she became a full-time Mother. In 1974, our family was finally posted back to Saskatchewan. In 1976, Mom enrolled at A.E. Peacock to take secretarial courses. She worked for a year for the Saskatchewan Air Show before starting her career at Valley View Centre, retiring from there in 2004. At this time, she resumed her favorite career as Mother and Grandmother. Mom was a private person and enjoyed the simple things in life – possessions were not as important as family, friends and memories! Simple things like her morning paper and coffee, a good book, gardening, flowers, her evening cup of tea, music – Frank Sinatra and Neil Diamond and playing the mandolin; especially singing and playing Galway Bay for her dad, M.J. Library, a spirited discussion, a new recipe, family celebrations and attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals and acknowledging their many accomplishments. Family was Mom’s treasure. She was fondly called “Mom” by many of our friends and later, simply “Granny” by her grandchildren’s friends. And of course, cheering for the Rider’s and “Her” Dodgers! A Graveside Service will take place on Saturday, August 24th, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at Rosedale Cemetery in Moose Jaw, SK with Father Rick Krofchek officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Moose Jaw Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. A Memorial Tea will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Memorials in Simone’s name may be made to the Canadian Red Cross Saskatchewan Office, P.O. Box 4740 STN Main, Regina, SK S4P 9Z9, Riverside Mission, 40 Manitoba St. E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H0A2 or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director. 306-693-4550.
