Terry Leggott
Terry Leggott passed away on Saturday, May 18th, 2013 with his family by his side after a short battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Leggott; his father, Durham Leggott; and many dear friends. Terry is survived by his wife, Jackie; sons, Mark (Michelle) and Rhys (Roxanne); daughter, Dakota (Neil); and four beautiful granddaughters: Elizabeth, Katherine, Aylah and little Stella. Terry was born and raised in the Eyebrow district. After doing the usual young man adventures in Yellowknife and Calgary, he came back to Lake Valley where he was taken under the wing of Jack and Pat Devine. His farming and ranching dreams started there. Terry and Jackie were married in 1973 and along with friends they had known all their lives, began to raise their family at Lake Valley, eventually coming full circle back to the Beck homestead a few years later, where he had spent so much time as a kid. His dream had come true. Terry considered himself a very lucky man. He had a family he was very proud of, a home he wanted so badly to make special for them, and friends and neighbors he loved spending time with. His biggest love was the outdoors and animals. He tried his hand at raising just about everything over the years, from cattle, bison and horses to sheep, goats and pigs; you name it, we had it on the farm at one time or another. His idea of relaxing was saddling up his old horse Dusty and just going for a ride. Thanks to Grant, he had that opportunity for many years down at the feedlot. He had many hobbies over the years and was always willing to try his hand at something new. He enjoyed leather and wood work, restoring old treasures found at the dump, hunting, fishing and of course his many years of trail rides with his brother Tony in the mountains and the Pelican Lake Trail Rides down in the pasture. He had a love for music, playing many instruments over the years and was a great dancer, which anyone he danced with can attest to. A perfect evening was having a “rummy-do” in his rocking chair in front of his old cook stove listening to Ian Tyson. Terry and Jackie want our friends and neighbors to know they have our heartfelt gratitude for everything you did to help us the last few months. You gave him his wish to be at home. And please do something special with someone you love, even if it is just sharing a coffee and vanilla dip donut at Tim’s – just do it today. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 24th, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in Minto United Church, 1036 7th Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw, SK with Fred Mathieson officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Terry’s name may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK S4T 7T1. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director. 693-4550.
