Gordon Magowan
It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon Magowan announces his passing on Sunday, July 7th, 2013. Gordon was born November 1st, 1933 and grew up on the family farm in the Mawer District. There he attended school and graduated, farmed the family farm and in 1960 bought the Frank Quigley farm. In 1961, he started building a new house for his new bride – Alice Larsen in 1962. They farmed together for the next 51 years. Their daughter Christina Rose was born in 1968. Gordon worked hard thru’ the years. His priority was providing for his family. The last three years he enjoyed retirement with Alice, renting out their land to Myron Fowler. He was predeceased by infant sister, Evelyn Elizabeth; father, James William; mother, Mildred Evelyn; brothers-in-law: Archie Larsen, Len Manz, Elmer Sjodin and Art Esmond. Gordon will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Alice; daughter, Christina Magowan-Lawrence; son-in-law, Brian; brother, Robert of Vernon, BC; nieces, Margaret and Mary; nephews, James and Brian; as well as many nieces and nephews on his wife’s side. A big thank you goes out to all the wonderful doctors and nurses at the MPICU Regina General Hospital for the great care they gave during the battle to save Gordon’s life. A Celebration of Gordon’s Life will be held on Friday, July 12th, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Greg Spencer will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gordon’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 9Z9 or purchase a lottery ticket and think of Gordon.
