David John McDonald
It is with deepest sadness that the family of David John McDonald announces his sudden passing on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013 at the age of 69 years. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 9th, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. A Time of Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Monday, April 8th, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Dave was born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland on November 8th, 1943 to Patrick and Daphne MacDonald. Dave joined the Canadian Air Force in 1962, training on the Harvard and went on to be a flight instructor. He met his wife of 49 years, Clara Saigeon, while training in Moose Jaw and they were married in 1963. He remained in the Air Force until 1974, after which he continued his career in Civilian Aviation. In 1976, the family moved back to Moose Jaw and Dave began a career with the Moose Jaw City Police. Dave enjoyed life and had many interests, including his time as the commanding officer of the 40 Snowbirds Squadron Air Cadets. Dave and Clara enjoyed a career in Real Estate working together as partners. Before his retirement in 2008, he enjoyed a career as a flight simulator instructor with Bombardier. Dave was a devoted family man and he considered his family his greatest accomplishment. He was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Daphne MacDonald; his parents-in-law, Orlon and Freda Saigeon; and son-in-law, Gary Heebner. Dave is survived by his wife, Clara; daughter, Beverly Heebner-Orobko (Jim); granddaughter, Stephanie Harrington (Sean) and great-granddaughters Sarah and Allison; grandson, Kevin Heebner (Ashley) and great-granddaughter Bella; brothers, Ed (Sheila), Bob and families; sisters, Jeanette and Joanne (Alan); sister-in-law, Carol Herde (Brian), nephew, Brad Shilton (Lorraine), Steven and Amanda; and niece, Marsha Herde (Helayna).
