Helen May Meier

Helen May Meier, aged 86 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Wednesday, February 27th, 2013.  She was born in Cabri, SK on October 5th, 1926 and at age 12 she moved to Balgonie.  Helen married Dave in 1946.  She raised most of her family on the farm at Balgonie until 1958, when they moved to Regina.  The family then moved to Swift Current in 1963 with Dave’s work until 1972 when they moved to Moose Jaw.  Helen worked at the Moose Jaw Co-op for 18 years.  Her family was always the focus of her life and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and special family pets.  She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Carolina Kalbfleisch; brother, Bud Kalbfleisch; sister, Frances Gray; grandson, Jamie Fry and son-in-law, Brent Willy; sisters-in-law: Millie Kleiner, Helen Mang, Frieda Mang and Louise Karst; and brothers-in-law, J.C. Meier and Harold Meier.  Helen is survived by her husband of 66 years, Dave; her children and grandchildren: daughter Candy Willy, granddaughter Monique (Derek) Dale, great-grandsons Keane and Aidan, grandson Shane (Alicia) Willy, great-granddaughter Madison; daughter Jacquie Fry, grandson Jesse (May), granddaughter Jenny; son Darrell Meier; son David (Denise) Meier, granddaughters Dione (Justin) and Dayna (Trevor), grandson Dawson; son Darcy (Carol) Meier, granddaughter Kaitlyn, grandson Kagan; and daughter Pam (Bob) Lys, grandsons Matthew and Jordan, granddaughter Racquel; sisters, Mina Currie and Polly Mireau; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Becker and Charlotte Meier; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 8th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Reverend Heather Kleiner officiating.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Helen’s name may be made to the Alzheimer Assoc. of Saskatchewan Inc., 301-2550 – 12th Ave., Regina, SK S4P 3X1.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director. 693-4550.
