Rose Patterson
On the morning of September 7th, 2013, Rose Patterson was welcomed with open arms by those who have passed before her – her mom, dad, stepfather, sister Diane and son Randy. Born on May 30th, 1937 in Davidson, SK, she was the daughter of the late Floris and Laura Vanghel. She grew up in Imperial on a busy family farm with 8 siblings. During the high school years she worked at a cafe in Davidson and later at the telephone office in Imperial. In 1956 she made the move to Moose Jaw where she enrolled as a student in the Psychiatric Nursing program at the Saskatchewan Training School. She worked at Valley View Centre until 1970 and then spent the remainder of her nursing career as a Community Mental Health Nurse. After retirement she began a lengthy Real Estate career that she enjoyed very much. She has 7 grandchildren that meant everything to her. In the last year, she became a great-grandmother, something she was very proud of. Rose enjoyed winters in Arizona, cooking, baking, gardening, music, reading, knitting and crochet. She loved pets, in particular cats and she will be missed by her most recent pet Kinzee. She was resilient, strong, loving, caring and loyal; characteristics she passed on to her children. When faced with challenges she never complained but rather made sure we all knew that life was beautiful even during the hard times. She was thankful, right up until the end, for the good life she had. Rose is survived by her husband, Murray; son, Scot (Sandy), Casey, Josh (Jasmine); daughter, Penny (Guido), Emma, Anna; daughter-in-law, Janis, Keegan (Jen), great-granddaughter, Braelynn, Kaley (Jared), Kellan; sister, Judy (Doug); brothers: Charlie, Dennis, Glen (Kirsten), Len, Lyle (Denise) and Norman (Becky); brother-in-law, John; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Rose to Riverside Mission, 40 Manitoba St. E, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 0A2 would be appreciated.
