Winnie Phillips
Winnie Phillips, aged 79 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Monday, July 1st, 2013 at Providence Place. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 4th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Henningsen will officiate and interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. Winnie was born on December 2nd, 1933 in North Battleford, SK. She was predeceased by her parents, Agnes Winnifred Lykken (nee Harvie) and Iver Lykken; son, Clarence Allen Ogle; brother, Bill Jolly and husband, Cecil Phillips. Winnie is survived by her daughter, Chris Harden (Bill) and their children Joyce-Ann (Lee) Hart, Bill Harden and Danielle Harden; daughter, Kathy Ogle and her children Jason Larmour, Amber Ganje, Trevor Larmour and Deidre Lane (Mike); 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Hugh Jolly, Telmer (Donna) Lykken and Roy Lykken; as well as several nieces and nephews. Winnie moved to Moose Jaw from McKague, SK and lived most of her early years on a farm southwest of Moose Jaw. Over the years she worked for the Dept. of Highways and several hotels as a cook. In later years, she enjoyed several camping trips with her husband Cec and beloved dog Towser. Winnie took many bus trips, travelling to Alaska and the Maritimes. She enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She belonged to the Prairie Pens and enjoyed writing poems and short stories, with several of her writings being published. She always enjoyed card games, watching sports and especially Canadian history. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Winnie’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 9Z9.
