MARION ELIZABETH SCHNEIDER (nee McAlaster)
Marion passed away on Thursday, May 2nd, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Marion was born on November 18th, 1926, the sixth of ten children born to Hector and Henrietta McAlaster. She grew up in Kisbey, Saskatchewan and excelled in athletics, especially in track and field events. She met her husband Gerald Schneider in Winnipeg, Manitoba and they were married on January 30th, 1946. They made their home in many small Saskatchewan communities, including Gull Lake, Sidewood, Pambrun, Scotsguard and Shaunavon, before moving to Moose Jaw upon retirement in 1978. Mom was a homemaker and was excellent at baking and sewing. She was a long time member of the Legion Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge Branch #54. Her favorite past times were playing cards and watching sports, especially curling. Mom was very active and independent up until the last few weeks of her life. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald in 2008; and is survived by her son, Don (Sharon) and their children Jason and Chris, all of Saskatoon; and her daughter, Barb (Bob) Clarke of Moose Jaw and their children Stacey (Matthew) McGeary of Saskatoon and Jeff of Grande Prairie. In keeping with Mom’s wishes, a private service will be held in Moose Jaw and a celebration of her life will be held in Saskatoon at a later date.
