Robert (Bob) Henry Zimmer
It is with deep sadness that the children of Robert (Bob) Henry Zimmer of Moose Jaw, Sk., announce the passing of their beloved father on Friday, November 15th, 2013 at the age of 75 years, at Moose Jaw Union Hospital. Bob was born on April 3rd, 1938 to Henrich (Henry) and Sophia Zimmer of Glenbush, Saskatchewan. On April 30th, 1960, Bob married Louise Lundy of Smeaton, Saskatchewan. For the next 39 years, they lived at various locations around Saskatchewan including Scentgrass, Red Pheasant, Lancer, Chaplin and Moose Jaw. Bob was an elevator agent from 1958 through to his retirement in 1995, working for Searle Grain, then Federal Grain and then the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. Bob had the wonderful skill of fixing whatever needed to be fixed and his workshop was always in particular order – everything had its place. He enjoyed dancing (polka music especially) and playing cards, and he was always involved in civic activities including town council and as a volunteer fireman. In his later years, he discovered computers, keeping a Facebook page and regularly exchanging humorous emails with relatives and friends. Bob was predeceased by his mother Sophia (1943); father Henry (1978); wife Louise (1999); daughters Reta (1961) and Brenda Louise (1964); as well as his brother Victor (2004); sister Trudy (2013); and Louise’s parents James (1979) and Reta (1985). He is survived by his sons Norm (Lisa) of Edmonton and Blair (Rosanne) of Regina; daughter Bonita (Maurice) of Moose Jaw; seven grandchildren, whom he was so very proud of: Ryley, Daniel, Nicholas, Ashley, Brayden, Keegan and Grayson. He also leaves to mourn a very special friend, Verna MacDonald; a special brother-in-law John (Trudy) Duncan; and many, many other relatives. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Minto United Church, 1036 7th Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw. Gary Johnson will officiate. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Sask., 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2H8. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane, Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
