Kenneth Dale Ankerman
November 13th, 1949 – September 23rd, 2014
After a courageous battle with cancer, Ken passed away at Extendicare in Moose Jaw on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014 surrounded by his family. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 29th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Doug Russell will officiate and interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. A Time of Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Sunday, September 28th, 2014 from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Ken was born in Assiniboia, SK and raised in Moose Jaw, SK. He worked for many years moving buildings all over this region with Butz and Hunter Building Movers. His love for the outdoors was a big part of his life. He so enjoyed camping, hunting and was a fisherman extraordinaire. Animals of all kinds seemed very drawn to Ken (especially his black Lab ‘Chico’). One of things we’ll always remember is how Ken could always find something funny to say. Right up to the end of his life, he maintained his sense of humor and good nature. He was predeceased by his father, Dale Ankerman. Ken is survived by his son, Kevin Ankerman (Tanya); mother, Merle Dryburgh; sisters: Beryl Johnson (Brad), Phyllis Gummeson (Doug) and Myra Mackenzie (Duncan); nieces and nephews: Lana Gummeson, Sharla Brown (Rod), Clint Navoy (Sherry), Carley Adams (Micah), Rhonda Hunter, Kyle Mackenzie and Emily Mackenzie; special auntie, Anne Mitchell; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ken’s name may be made to Moose Jaw’s New Regional Hospital c/o Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3. Thanks to all the staff that looked after Ken so well over the last few years. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
