Stella Bida
Stella Bida, was born on January 5th, 1924 to Anton and Katherine Smuk, on the farm south of Hodgville, SK. She passed away on Thursday, July 24th, 2014 at Extendicare, with her daughter by her side. She wanted to go home every day and now she is home and joining her husband, John; son, Rodney; daughter, Verna; son-in-law, Don and son-in-law, Steve; as well as her parents; sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers and brothers-in-law: Mary (Harry), Elizabeth (Zenon), Alice (Peter), Pauline (John), Minnie (Ray), Peter (Jennie), Helen (Frank) and Joseph, as well as 3 sisters and a brother in infancy. Stella is survived by her daughter, Dianne; grandsons, Eugene (Colleen) and Brian (Candace); great-grandchildren, Cale and Caris; son, Ivan (Val); son, Keith (Shanon); grandson David (Stephanie); great-grandchildren: Kyanna, Adrianna and Daniel; granddaughter, Gillian (Brennan); great-granddaughter, Kyla; granddaughter, Stephanie (Kameron); grandson, Zachary (Laci); great-granddaughter, Helena; grandsons, Nicholas and Matthew; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom worked very hard in her lifetime and lived without many things, as well as the hardships of the time. She worked side by side with Dad, had huge gardens, lots of canning and doing whatever had to be done on the farm. She made time to prepare delicious meals and made thousands of perogies and cabbage rolls. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 12th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Thunder Creek, SK. Father Yurij Lazurko will be the presiding celebrant and interment will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, August 11th, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Those so wishing may make a donation in Stella’s name to Sts.
