Douglas Arthur Bristow
Douglas Arthur Bristow, aged 83 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Lillian Bristow; brother, Leslie; and sister, Lorna. Doug was born in Kincaid on March 17th, 1931. He attended Hazenmore School and Campion College in Regina and then completed teacher’s college in Moose Jaw. He taught school in Lafleche, Meyronne, Edmonton and Drayton Valley. Doug met Joyce Jensen in 1960 and they were married on June 19th, 1961. Doug taught at Kincaid High School from 1961 to 1970. During their time in Kincaid, son Murray and daughter Carolyn were born. Doug and Joyce moved to Moose Jaw in 1969 where he taught school at Prince Arthur, Queen Elizabeth, and finally Westmount schools. In 1975 Doug started farming with his brother, Earl. They farmed together until he retired in 1999. Doug loved music, spending time with family, and serving God through the Gideons. Doug is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Murray (Robin) Bristow of Regina; daughter, Carolyn (Jeff) Talley of Louisville, KY; and brother, Earl. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 9th, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Alliance Church at the corner of 9th Avenue NW and Thatcher Drive. Pastor Doug Russell will officiate and interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery following the time of fellowship. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
