Shirley Gorgichuk (Best)

Shirley Gorgichuk (Best) was born on September 1st, 1934 in Assiniboia, SK and passed away suddenly on Monday, April 28th, 2014.  Shirley moved to Moose Jaw and worked at the Providence Hospital.  She married Mike on June 25th, 1953.  In 1961, they purchased their farm and raised their family, and many more, as they were Foster Parents for 37 years.  She was predeceased by her husband Mike; parents Estelle and Joseph Best; brothers Keith (Jean) and Dennis; sister Gwen (Bill); brother-in-law Daniel Gorgichuk; and sisters-in-law Mary (Russel) and Olga (Stan).  Shirley will be sadly missed by her family: Penny, Michael (Leslie), Krystol (Randy) McDowell, Robin (Lisa) and Shir-lea Ann (Dean) Hodgson; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother Duane Best, sister Beverly Carlson and sister-in-law Mary Gorgichuk.  The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 2nd, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Seaborg officiating.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Shirley’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Sask., 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8 or The Canadian Diabetes Assoc., 917A Albert St., Regina, SK S4R 2P6.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
