Robert Ross MacDonald

Robert Ross MacDonald, aged 77 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26th, 2014 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital with his family by his side.  Bob was born on October 5th, 1936 in Halifax, NS.  He was predeceased by his parents, Archibald and Pearl (née Neiforth); brother, Wayne and Bruce; and twin sister, Anna.  Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon (née Thiele); brother, Eric (Gerri) and family; daughters: Terry (Bill), Debbie (Jim) and Kim (Bill); son, Ross (Leslie); grandchildren: Kyanne (Mitch), Sabrina (Cory) and great-grandaughter Dylann, Shaylene (Sean) and great-grandson Brody, Aysia (Jaden), Austin and Jayden (Christina); as well as many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.  Bob was a machinist in the military.  He and his family enjoyed living in many places during his career and meeting many good friends along the way.  They settled back in Moose Jaw in 1986 to enjoy retirement.  Mom and Dad enjoyed 28 summers at their cabin, hosting many friends, barbeques, children and grandchildren.  Dad loved to listen to the Jays games on the deck and enjoy a cold one.  Nothing pleased him more than having his grandchildren come and go as they grew.  Mom and Dad made the drive back out to Halifax two years ago, stopping and visiting with family and friends along their way.  Last year everyone was home for Mom and Dad’s 50th anniversary and he said it was the best time of his life.  Though our hearts are broken, we can’t imagine taking this journey with a better man!  The family wish to thank Dr. Miller and the nursing staff at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, and a very special thank you to Dr. Brown and staff for the exceptional care of Dad.  Special thanks to Calvin and Todd.  In keeping with Bob’s wishes, a Private Family Service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1011 University Dr., Saskatoon, SK S7N 0K4.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Todd Sjoberg and Calvin Gammel, Funeral Directors 306-693-4550.
