Sylvia Marasse (Melnychuk)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and caregiver, Sylvia Marasse (Melnychuk), on Sunday, October 12th, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born on May 15th, 1941 near Sheho, Saskatchewan.  After moving to Moose Jaw in 1958 to obtain her degree as an RPN, Sylvia met Rod Marasse and they were married on August 12th, 1961.  She was predeceased by her parents, John and Pauline Melnychuk; brothers: Boris, Edward and Gene; an infant sister; son-in-law, Jeffrey Robson; and father and mother-in-law, Ed and Alice Marasse.  Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Rod Marasse and their five children: Cindy Robson of Prince Albert, Shauna Novak (Darrel) of Regina, Scott, Todd (Christine), and their youngest son Beau, all of Moose Jaw; grandchildren: Elyssa, Madilyn, Rachelle, Derek, Tierra, Christian, Tasia, Cody, Quintin, Thane, Cooper, Kanon, Maddison, Makailah and Makencie; great-grandchildren, Caelum and Khalil; and sister-in-law, Brenda Melnychuk.  In keeping with Sylvia’s wishes, a Private Family Service will be held.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Sylvia’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
