Jean Marguerite (nee Garratt) Mercer
With sadness we announce the passing of Jean Marguerite (nee Garratt) Mercer, on Sunday, September 28th, 2014 after a brief illness. Jean was born in Wadena, Saskatchewan on December 30th, 1935 and lived in Margo, Moose Jaw and on the Mercer farm. She married Frank Mercer on June 20th, 1959. Jean was a respected member of the Grayburn and Moose Jaw communities and of the Moose Jaw First Free Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her parents, Lyle and Verna Garratt and her husband, Frank. Jean will be deeply missed by her son, Dean (Natalie); daughters: Debbie (Bill) Smeaton and children Emily and BJ, Marianne (Kent) Patterson and her sons Nathan (Katelyn) Williams and Benjamin (Katelynn) Williams, and Lori (Jim) Isaac and children Kathryn, Jennifer and Douglas; great-grandchildren, Angus and Isaac Williams; brother, Gerald (Jan) Garratt; and sisters-in-law, Joan (Winston) Huenison and Pat (Grant) Hallborg. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 4th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Dennis Camplin will officiate and interment will take place at Caron Cemetery. A Public Viewing for Family and Friends will be held on Friday, October 3rd, 2014 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. and a time of visitation will continue until 8:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Jean’s name may be made to the First Free Methodist Church, 375 Hochelaga St W, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 2G6.
