Ambrose Morhart
Ambrose Morhart, aged 81 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away quietly at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on Tuesday, May 27th, 2014. Ambrose was born on the family farm in Spring Valley on May 29th, 1932. At the age of 19, Ambrose began his 36 year career with the Canadian National Railway, beginning as a section man and working his way up to section foreman, a position he held with great pride.
Ambrose met Vi Holmberg of Shaunavon, SK and in 1960 they were married and together raised 4 children. They spent the first few years of their married life living in the section house at Lewvan, SK before making their home in Spring Valley, SK. While working for the CNR, Dad continued to help out on his family’s farm, often toiling late into the night after he had finished a long day on the tracks. Dad took early retirement from the CNR in 1987 and in 1999, he and mom moved to Moose Jaw. Mom pre-deceased Dad in October, 2010.
Dad will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by “the children” (as he always called us) – Darla Lawrence (Rick), Randy Morhart (Virginia), Nancy Rosnes (Colin) and Tracy Morhart (Harry). We each have our own special memories of dad but all of us will miss his constant smile, his jokes and stories, and his special gift of being able to talk to anyone, anywhere! Dad will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his brother Alfred and sister Betty, as well as the many friends and acquaintances he made along the way.
In keeping with Dad’s wishes, a private family service was held at Moose Jaw Funeral Home on June 3rd, 2014. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Ambrose’s name may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 7T1 or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
