Tony Panko
Tony Panko, aged 94 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Monday, January 27th, 2014. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 6th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Church of Lady, 566 Vaughan St., Moose Jaw, SK. Father Carlos Jimenez will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, February 5th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. He was predeceased by his sons, Randall and Barry; daughter-in-law, Lori; 6 brothers and a sister. Tony will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Bernice; daughter, Shelley (Gerry) and their children David and Adrianne; son, Douglas (Tracy) and his children Jennefer, Johnny, Javan and Jaleigh; great-grandchildren, Ryder and Hailey; sister, Alice; as well as numerous other relatives. He was born on the family farm near Killdeer, SK in 1919, the 4th son of Daniel and Mary Panko. Tony served in the Pacific Coast Command in WWII. He moved to Moose Jaw and married Bernice Gillis on June 17th, 1950 and was employed at CFB Moose Jaw as a plumber until his retirement in 1984. His retirement years were spent keeping physically fit and pursuing the passion of travel, especially to Cuba and Cypress Hills. Above all, time spent with family and friends was most important. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Tony’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Sask., 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
