RONALD MICHAEL “MIKE” WALZ
February 16th, 1956 – January 20th, 2019
Mike Walz passed away at his home on Sunday, January 20th, 2019 at the age of 62 years. He is predeceased by his father, Donald; mother, Genesta; brothers, Allan and Greg; and father-in-law, Lloyd. Mike is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife, Lori; his children and their families: Russ (wife Carrie, children Maelle and Brayden), Matt (wife Leanne, children Addison and Yvonne), Mitch (wife Amy, children Katherine and Lucas), Dustin (wife Stacey, children Noah), and Genesta (husband Jared, children Isla); mother-in-law, Yvonne; brothers: Brian (Rhonda), David (Jody), and Brad; sisters-in-law: Wanda (Doug), Tracy (Bezhad), Dara (Angus), Lee (John), and Ria; brothers-in-law, Darcy and Lloyd (Tammy); as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly but teased relentlessly. Mike was born in Moose Jaw, SK and was educated on the farm as well as Lindale and A.E. Peacock Collegiate. Mike and Lori met in the summer of 1975, fell in love and married in 1979. Mike’s life passion was his wife, children and being a grandfather to all his little grandbabies. He loved the family farm, working with his hands, playing guitar, hockey, skiing, camping, classic cars and his lawn. Mike left us too early; he was a humble and joyful man who will be remembered fondly by everyone. A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held on Thursday, January 24th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cosmo Centre, 235 3rd Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, Unit 26 – 1738 Quebec Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.

Rise Again
The Rankin Family
When the waves roll on over the waters
And the ocean cries
We look to our sons and daughters
To explain our lives
As if a child could tell us why
That as sure as the sunrise
As sure as the sea
As sure as the wind in the trees
We rise again in the faces
of our children
We rise again in the voices of our song
We rise again in the waves out on the ocean
And then we rise again
When the light goes dark with the forces of creation
Across a stormy sky
We look to reincarnation to explain our lives
As if a child could tell us why
That as sure as the sunrise
As sure as the sea
As sure as the wind in the trees
We rise…
