Grant Robert Torgerson
Grant Robert Torgerson, born September 7th, 1942, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28th, 2014 with his family by his side. Grant was born and raised in Moose Jaw, SK. He married his high school sweetheart Lynda Dillon in 1964 and they had two children, Thomas Richard and Karlie Lyne. Grant went to school at Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon for Refrigeration and worked in the trade for many years, until flying and then farming became his passions. He took over the family homestead in Lake Valley as the fourth consecutive generation and farmed it for more than 30 years. During this time he was also an aerial crop duster in and around the Moose Jaw area. Grant was well known for his drive to tackle any problem and his uncanny ability to do almost anything amazingly well. He found another passion later in life when he took up gourmet cooking and baking – oh the cinnamon buns! In his later life, he lived proudly through his grandchildren and Poppa will be forever remembered as the larger than life man that he was. He was predeceased by his parents, Merrill (Torg) and Leah; and his brother-in-law, Maurice Gilbert (Gail). Grant is survived by his wife, Lynda; son, Tom and grandsons Kade and Liam; daughter, Karlie (Jason) and granddaughters Hailey and Meaghan; brother, Gary (Louie); and sister, Gail. He also leaves behind his always faithful sidekick, Bobby-Boots. At Grant’s request, there will be no Funeral Service and a private family memorial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made as a donation in Grant’s name to the STARS Air Ambulance Head Office, Box 570, Calgary, AB T2E 8M7 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Sask., 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
Dad, we will miss you always!
May you forever “Stick it to the Man”
