GERTRUDE YOUNG (Gertie)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gertie on Sunday, November 9th, 2014 after a stroke suffered on October 21st, 2014.  Gertie was born on October 4th, 1916 at home on the farm in the Tuxford district to Ada and Leonard Moysey, the first of seven children.  She married Morris Young on August 2nd, 1940 and had two children.  She was predeceased by her parents, Leonard (1973) and Ada (1987); husband, Morris (1996); daughter, Lorraine White (2008); son-in-law, Bruce White (1999); brothers: John Moysey (1994), Fred Moysey (2006) and Len Moysey (2013); and sister, Joan Lamb (2012).  Gertie is survived by her son, Paul (Judy) of Regina, SK; granddaughter, Sheila Young (Eli Perkins) of Regina, SK; granddaughter, Cindy Scherger (Weldon) of Shaunavon, SK; grandsons, Merv White (Debbie) of Dallas, Texas and Terry Young of Calgary, AB; great-granddaughters: Melanie Hughes (Justin) of Shaunavon, SK, Mercedes Young of Regina, SK and Taneille Young (Harley Kowalsky) of Regina, SK; great-grandson, Ian Scherger of Shaunavon, SK; brother, Frank Moysey; sister, Elinor Grajczyk; sister-in-law, Edith Moysey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Gertie and Morris farmed in the Stoney Beach district for many years.  She loved farm life and missed it sorely when they moved to Moose Jaw.  She enjoyed gardening, the lake cottage and spending time with her family and many friends.  In 2012, Gertie moved to Pioneers Lodge because of severe arthritis and resided there until her passing.  A Graveside Service will be held at St. Columba Anglican Church in the Tuxford District at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
