Kathleen Florence Dorward
Kathleen Florence Dorward, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on Monday, April 13th, 2015. Kathleen was born in Fort William, Ontario on October 20th, 1918. Predeceased by her husband, Dave; parents, Tom and Nina McGowan; and sister, Marie Isbister; Kathleen is survived by her sons, Bruce (Carol) and Ron (Olunda); grandchildren: Blake (Stacey), Nathan (Kristi), Kathleen and Jay; great-grandchildren: Rhian, Jordyn and Lexi; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom and Dad moved to Parksville, BC in 1979 when Dad retired. They became involved with many community volunteer organizations. When Mom was 80 she was asked by a friend what she did with her time, and she explained that she often drove “old people” to appointments. Another pastime Mom had was knitting finger puppets for the Laboratory at the hospital. Mom moved back to Moose Jaw in 2006 after Dad passed away to be closer to family. Mom enjoyed travelling and visiting family in Nova Scotia where her parents were born. Mom was a very accomplished seamstress, making clothes for herself and family. She also enjoyed painting and many of the paintings adorn the walls of her children, grandchildren, great-children, nieces and nephews. Mom and Dad square danced in Moose Jaw and Parksville and travelled to many jamborees. The family thanks Dr Majid and the nursing staff on Medicine for the compassionate care provided while in the hospital. At Kathleen’s request, no Funeral Service will be held. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St E, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
