MAY MILDRED DREGER (née PAWLUK)
May 1st, 1936- April 10th, 2018
The family of May Dreger are profoundly saddened at her passing on Tuesday, April 10th, 2018 at the age of 81 years. May was born on a farm near Mossbank, Saskatchewan, the eighth of nine children to Moisey and Katherine Pawluk. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Olga Lucas and Polly Pawluk; brothers: Bobby, George, and Roy; nieces, Linda Lizee and Patsy Messal; brothers-in-law, Earl Lucas and Bob Walker; husband, Herb Dreger; and daughter, Valerie Booth. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Randy (Christine) and their son Bruce and stepson Aaron; daughter, Darlene (Alex) Knittel and their daughter Alexis; daughter, Wendy (Grant) Chubb; Randy’s son, Jesse (Lana) and great-granddaughter, Rowan Dreger; sisters: Betty Walker, Adeline (Harold) Lizee, and Gloria (Bob) Allcock; as well as too many nieces and nephews to mention. May enjoyed the visits from her grandchildren and great-granddaughter Rowan, the special visits from her nephew, Butch Lucas, whom she called her sunshine, and the daily visits from her niece, Pam Lizee, her nut. Those were the visits from the hospital stays, they made being in the hospital happier. I hope you know how special those were to her. Anyone who knew May well knew that in the summer time when you stopped by, you would find her somewhere outside in her yard tending to her many flower beds, pulling weeds, or sitting on top of a 14 foot ladder trimming her tree’s to perfection. She did this up until she got sick, as her yard was her pride and joy. May loved playing rummy for quarters, listening to country music, putting puzzles together, and all sorts of crafts and hobbies. In the winter when she couldn’t get outside, she would do wood working while listening to the Warriors hockey games on the radio. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, to the staff on the 2nd floor of the Medicine Wing of the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, and to the Pioneer Lodge Memory Lane staff who took care of her on her last few days. We are especially grateful to Dr. Hugo for the wonderful care that he gave her. In keeping with May’s wishes, a Private Family Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in May’s name may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK S4T 7T1. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
