Clifford David Berry
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa (little Grandpa), Clifford David Berry, on Friday, September 2nd, 2016 with family by his side. At the age of 96, he was tired and went to join his parents, George and Violet Berry; sisters, Myrtle Theede and Hilda Wood; brothers: Wilf, Alfred, Wallace (Wally), Chester and Vern; and sisters-in-law: Gladys and Betty Berry, Norma McIntyre, and Betty Barber. Cliff is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Irene; sons, Hugh (Brenda) and Maurice (Carrie); grandchildren: Carla (Kevin Thibault), Craig (Andrea Hamre), Cara (Anthony) Ryall, Casey (Chris) Napper, and Lisa (Kellen) Hippe; great-grandchildren: Tyson (Caitlyn Gammel) Cleave, Randy and Andrew Cleave, Riley, Kaden, Mason and Carter Berry, Kaitlyn Burnett, and Landen, Ryder and Tinley Ryall; brother, Reg Berry; sister, Beatrice Buchannan; brother and sister-in-law, Al and Betty McGillivray; sisters-in-law: Alice (Art) Cedergren and Donna (Kevin) O’Callaghan; as well as many nieces and nephews. Cliff was born in Zehner, SK and was raised on the Berry homestead south of Central Butte, SK. While his older brothers enlisted in the war, Cliff stayed home to help with the farm and support the rest of the family. On November 8th, 1946 he married Irene McGillivray. They spent their winter after the wedding in Victoria, BC with his mom and siblings. While there he did odd jobs. They then returned back to the Central Butte area to begin a life on the farm. Dad was a proud, hardworking farmer. He always made sure that the farmyard was very well maintained and trimmed, and always had time to visit anyone that stopped by. He was very community minded and loved to keep busy with gardening, hunting and fishing with friends and family, and helping with and following his sons’ hockey teams. He spent many enjoyable hours with friends, neighbours and relatives, welding, fixing or repairing machinery. He remained actively farming until the age of 85. His grandkids and great-grandkids always brought a twinkle to his eye. His pranks and teasing would always put a smile on their faces. He loved to wind them up and then send them home. Cliff moved to Iver Main in 2011, and then to Regency Manor in 2015. We are very grateful for the wonderful care that he received from the Iver Main staff and Regency Manor staff. You made him feel very much at home. A Celebration of Cliff’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 10th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Central Butte Seniors Center. A private family interment will take place at Central Butte Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cliff’s name may be made to the Regency Manor Auxiliary, PO Box 361, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0, the Central Butte Splash Park, c/o Early Childhood Committee, Box 187, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0, or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
