Frances Marjory Botkin (née Oak)
Frances Marjory Botkin (née Oak), aged 88 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Saturday, April 9th, 2016. She was born in Moose Jaw on March 28th, 1928. Frances, better known to friends as Sandy, was educated at Summerside School, Archydale, as well as King George in Moose Jaw. She attended Richmond High (Peacock) to complete her high school education. Frances worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia as a teller from 1945-1963. She then went to work for her husband Garret Botkin as bookkeeper for his business, Botkin WF Construction Ltd, until she retired. Fran had a wonderfully positive outlook about life and loved to fill every minute of each day with family, friends and activities. She spent many hours with her nieces and nephews, who remember her fondly for her sense of humour and boisterous laugh. She enjoyed 5 pin bowling and was actively involved with Moose Jaw 5 Pin Bowling, acting as secretary treasurer for 22 years. Fran also kept busy by selling Beauty Counselors cosmetic products for 42 years. She spent many happy hours with her best friend, Bev Boys, creating ceramics and attending craft shows. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Oak (1970) and Grettina Oak (Hardwood – 1964); sisters, Christina Oak (1936) and Ethel (Bush – 1960); brother, John (1973); and husband, Garret Botkin (1998). Fran will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews; as well as her good friends, Michael and Randy; and sister-in-law, Ann Oak. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 14th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Father Rick Krofchek will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Fran’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, Unit 26 – 1738 Quebec Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
